Association guide
On this website, you can find nearly everything that associations operating within AYY need for their operations’ support and safeguard.
There are more than 200 associations operating within AYY that constitute a diverse and visible part of the Aalto community. Each association does valuable work with their own resources to fulfil their purpose. This can mean, for example, advocacy and the upkeep of the culture of their own study field, or relaxation and spending time together while practising a dear hobby. In terms of both individual students and the whole community, it is important that alongside studying, there are enough opportunities to make friends and develop yourself in different ways, within your own study field as well as outside it.
The purpose of the online guide is to help you manage in your current or future role as an association operator. Hence, it is advisable to go through this website carefully at the beginning of your term in office so that when things happen along the way, you won’t have any major surprises and you know where to turn to when you need answers. In the main, the guide contains information from a point of view that takes into account operating in the Aalto community, as well as the basic requirements outside it. There are direct links to trustworthy outside sources for situations in which you might require, for example, additional information on special cases. However, the best place to find a compilation of outside links is the Materials bank.
It is easy to return to this website in the thick of the association’s everyday operations, and this is also advisable as you might not always remember things exactly as they are supposed to go. This is simplified by the direct search field on the front page.
The website has been put together by AYY’s Organisation Sector in 2017–2018, and it is updated whenever necessary to keep the information up-to-date. For the most part, the content has been entirely rewritten, but AYY’s previous printed association guide has been used for conceptualising the writing – and in the sections Founding and Registration, also largely as its base – of which thanks belong to the makers of that version. The actual sources for specific pages can be found below.
It is always advisable to contact the Organisation Sector whenever you are wondering about anything related to association operations. The current contact details are available on the AYY website.
Wishing you informative moments reading through the guide!
